Always trim your wick to 1/4 inch before lighting to ensure a steady, ash-free flame.
For the first burn, allow the top of the candle to melt completely across. This prevents tunneling.
If you notice your wick is starting to mushroom or flicker, extinguish the flame, and trim the wick.
Keep candles away from drafts, such as open windows, ceiling fans, and air vents.
Do not place candles close to walls or other flammable materials, such as drapes.
Do not burn a candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time.
Discontinue use (and re-purpose jar!) when you reach the last 1/2 inch of wax in the vessel.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Why Blush & Gloom?
Blush and gloom are both beautiful, old, deeply human words. There seems to be a multitude of stories in those tiny, single syllables -- stories of love, of longing, of melancholy, of hope. They also seem to fit candle-making like a glove. Blush is the flash of color, heat, and light given off by the candle’s flame. Gloom is the subsequent, flickering shadows.
Who is Blush & Gloom?
Blush & Gloom is owned and operated by two humans, Brittany and Meagan, with moral support from their two cats, Renfield and Mina. Don't be fooled: the cats are definitely the brains behind the operation, the humans just get the credit.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently offer shipping to 190 countries! Please allow up to 3 weeks (sometimes longer) for international shipping. Buyer is responsible for any additional customs fees / tariffs charged.
What goes into your candles?
We use a high grade soy blend wax in all candles. We also use a blend of fragrance and essentials oils for our custom scent profiles. Our wicks are made of clean-burning cotton.
Why is my candle wax turning yellow?
It's totally normal for some candles to discolor slightly when exposed to direct sunlight or when they contain vanillin. We do not add UV inhibitors to our candles or any other unnecessary dyes or chemicals, so discoloration sometimes happens. Luckily, it is purely cosmetic and does not affect the burn of your candle!
How long will it take to receive my order?
Order processing typically takes 3 to 5 business days. Packages shipped using USPS Priority typically spend 1-3 days in transit after shipment. First Class shipments may take a day or two longer than Priority. While we do our best to accommodate time-sensitive shipments, we cannot guarantee delivery on or by a certain day. Once the package has left our hands, we are not responsible for delivery delays due to COVID-related resource shortages or any other reason within USPS. Because of this, we recommend Priority shipping during this time. You may look to USPS for more specific updates. We apologize for any delays and appreciate your patience.
What type of packaging do you use?
We only purchase recyclable materials for shipping, including paper, cardboard, and biodegradable packing peanuts. We use recyclable bubble wrap for protecting your candle from breakage during transit. We occasionally ship with styrofoam packing peanuts that we recycle from our own supply orders so as to keep them out of oceans and landfills.
Do you offer gift services?
We do not offer gift wrapping at this time, but please let us know if you'd like a personal message included in the box and we'll be sure to add it. Also, make sure the shipping address is correct if you want the item(s) sent directly to the recipient and not yourself.
